DESTA 15TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

To see Black youth thrive. Since it's inception it has been DESTA's core mission. This year, they celebrate their 15th year anniversary of empowering black youth of ages 18 to 35. To achieve their educational, employability and entrepreneurship goals. For the occasion, chef Evy Mendes, Marissa Leon-John and Berlin Reed served delicious snacks while the crowd enjoyed evening hosted by Preach and the performances of Rosen Higgins's, Freddy V & The Foundation, Uplift 514 dancers and DJ Kid Crayola. Wishing DESTA many more successful years in accomplishing their mission!

Demonstration against police brutality and racism – June 7 2020

For two Sundays in a row; May 31 and June 7, Montrealers united in protests against racism and police brutality. The diversity of the crowd in both protests shows that racism is not a black issue, we have to come together to dismantle systemic racism.
10,000 and then over 20,000 people walking peacefully speaks volume.

Justice for Victims of Police Killings

On May 31st 2020, a special event took place in Montreal; a demonstration for Justice for George Floyd (Minneapolis), Regis Korchinski-Paquet (Toronto), Tony McDade (Tallahassee), Brenna Taylor (Louisville) and ALL victims of police impunity, organized by Justice for Victims of Police Killings, Hoodstock and Tout Le Hood en Parle. Time to put an end to injustice. #BlackLivesMatter
