Juan Dominguez - if you are going to spend time on something like this, then try,and try hard to explain haitians that it is illegal to cross to the dominican side without proper paperwork, that it is their country that needs to clean their act, that is not the dominican republic responsability to assume haitians needs. i can keep on going all day long with all the things that you can do with your time, but this will be the best one… come to the dominican republic and see if haitians are really misstreated, dominicans hospitals are full of haitians women giving birth, because they assume that it is a safe way to stay illegal and get some paperwork. you are not heroes, you are fools with nothing to do trying to get 15 minutes of fame, when you just don`t know what is really going on. read, learn, and then do something about it.

December 13, 2013 - 8:27 PM

Pedro - Nice try, but they’re all lies. First no citizenship is being taken away. You can’t take away something that didn’t exist. That 1937 “massacre” you keep talking about never happened. The people that were trying to remove the dominican dictator saw what was happening in Europe and made that up because they wanted an international military invasion to remove Trujillo. When you’re going to accuse someone of genocide, have some evidence, but of course can’t because there is none.

December 13, 2013 - 5:57 PM

December 12, 2013 - 11:49 PM

Daniel - Why is it that haitians put all this effort against the Dominican Republic but they dont try in anyway to fix the problem im their country!!. Martelly spends millions of dollars in dumb stuff instead of rebuilding his country. Stop boycotting and begging enough is enough you people are the first independet country of America why do you need to keep feeding of other countries and blamming other people for your demies. Prove the world that you can stand on your own two feet and stop shaming yourselfs .

December 12, 2013 - 11:40 PM

Cesar E. Mendez - And WHY you dont do this BOYCOTT FOR THE HAITI GOVERMENTS, WHERE THE HUMAN RIGHTS IS INEXISTENCE??? Anyone of you have, apparently, dont know NOTHING about the Haiti situation inside the country ( i think you do).You are acting LIKE A TOOL of some Draconian “ORGANIZATIONS” with DRACONIAN INTENTIONS.There are a lot of Dominicans that know WHAT ARE YOU DOING, AND KNOW WHAT IS BEHIND OF ALL OF THIS.

December 12, 2013 - 11:34 PM

Cesar E. Mendez - Let me tell you something: I have hatians friends that i respect a lot ( they deserve it).But all of this again Dominican Republic seems to me a REAL SABOTAGE.Let me explain ( without emotions, just logic):

1-The new migration sentence ( or law ) ist not just for Haitians, is for all FOREIGNERS around the world that are in Dominican Republic!
2-It is of public knowledge that some haitians commite people that was in the United Nations, one of then used a false identity.
3-This INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST DOMINICAN REPUBLIC IS VERY SUSPICIOUS! IT IS LIKE SOME “ENTITIES” OUTSIDE HAVE A PLAN TO CAUSE SOMETHING IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.LET ME TELL YOU THAT SOME PEOPLE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC KNOW ABOUT THAT DRACONIAN SITUATION.

December 12, 2013 - 8:46 PM

Ja InformYourselves - Read, inform yourselves before doing a protest. ANY immigrant wether Haitian or not, have the same laws. Around 160 countries have the same rules do to their limited size. Countries are acting like ignorants such as Canada, having no interest in respecting the dominican constitution. The Dominican Republic as a sovereign country has made a decision for the benefit of their citizens. The 30,000 haitians killed was a terrible masacre commited by one of the most hated dictators of all times named Rafael Trujillo, which was assasinated in 1961 by dominicanas tired of the tiran. Ever since we searched for a true democracy, there’s never been an atrocity of that type. There actually exists rascisim in part of the dominicans, but also the haitians dislike dominicans and are racist in their own way. The decision was already implemented, any illegal immigrant who decides to have an child in the dominican territory has no right of demanding the child’s dominican documents. For my part I know its hard to understand for people who live in countries who relly on immigrants due to their territory, and haven’t lived in a small island but its vital for them to aknowledge the necesity for that law in the Dominican Republic.

December 12, 2013 - 4:03 PM

Dominican Person. - It’s funny how you haitians talk shit about my country, but enjoy being there by just having children you can’t raise, by asking money on the street, being criminals, or just doing nothing productive or good. Haitians were killed by dominicans in 1937? How sweet, what about the abuses your goverment did between 1822-1844 and also your attempts to convert the island into your country again after our independence? Stop acting like a victim because you haitians know that my country is the one that have helped you the most. Seems like you forgot who was the first and last country to help you when they earthquake hit Haiti. And please, don’t say we threat you bad, because you are the ones who do not like us, you just want to come illegaly to my country to do bad things, so stop acting like we are the bad.

December 12, 2013 - 3:06 PM

Chris - If my Dominican wife and I (Also Dominican) have a child in haiti, is that child haitian or Dominican?

December 12, 2013 - 3:00 PM

December 12, 2013 - 2:15 PM

Virgilio Villa - the funny thing about this is that Haitians are asking for something that They as nation deny to other illegals people in their country. Read this article an convince your self.

http://www.listin.com.do/puntos-de-vista/2013/12/8/302723/Haiti-exige-lo-que-no-da

according to Haiti constitution if you are illegal and have a baby in Haiti, you are not granted Haitian nationality. Then my point is If Haitian can write their laws so can Dominicans.

December 12, 2013 - 12:57 PM

December 12, 2013 - 1:12 AM

pedro - HOLA,

A MI ME GUSTARIA SABER,DE LOS QUE HOY PROTESTAN POR LA SENTENCIA DEL TRIBUNAL CONSTITUCIONAL DE LA REPUBLICA DOMINICANA, QUIENES DE ELLOS HAN APORTADO ALGO A LA VECINA NACION DE HAITY? LA REPUBLICA DOMINICANA HA INVERTIDO CIENTOS DE MILLONES DE PESOS EN LA RECONSTRUCCION DE HAITY LUEGO DEL TERREMOTO. HA SIDO EL PAIS QUE MAS HA APORTADO, SIN CONTABILIZAR LA CARGA ECONOMICA QUE LOS MAS DE 2 MILLONES DE ILEGALES HAITIANOS REPRESENTAN EN GASTOS PARA LA ECONOMIA DOMINICANA, EN HOSPITALES, ESCUELAS, MEDICINAS, ALIMENTOS. ES UN ABUSO CALIFICAR A REPUBLICA DOMINICANA COMO RACISTA, CUANDO HA SIDO EL PRINCIPAL ALIADO DE HAITY EN TODA LA HISTORIA REPUBLICANA DE LAS DOS NACIONES. ABUSADORES, PROTESTANDO EN CONTRA DEL PAIS QUE MAS TE HA DADO LA MANO.

December 12, 2013 - 1:07 AM

Luis Tejeda - I dont understand why if we treat you so bad you are still here. I guess you are better in your own country. So stay there. You are very ungrateful people, that is why the world has abandoned you. We feel sorry for you, you have become a netion of beggars and you blame everybody for your situation. Get up against your poiltitians and in front of the extremely rich people that owns everything in haiti and be a better country. Why so much hate? If you keep this i foresee a confrontation in the near future. And we are not afraid of you. That is what you want? You want blood ? stop it. You live abroad in a safe place. If there is a war you are not going to be here. You are not going to die. Stop this. Why are you so interested in becoming Dominicans if we are so bad ? The only one denying nationality in this matter is you, your constitution says that all children born from haitian parents are haitians no matter where they are born. So this is your people.

Do you think that spreading hate is a solution? i dont think so. Be sure of one thing, we dont want a war, we are a epaceful nation, but if in the end all this that you are doing leads to a confrontation you will get it.

December 12, 2013 - 12:05 AM

M. Franco - What the constitution of Dominican Republic says MUST be respected. There is not genocide or denationalization THA’S A LIE!!!! , that’s manipulation. I’m sorry but you can talk to withdraw legality of what has never been legal or denationalization of what has never been national.

December 12, 2013 - 12:03 AM

December 11, 2013 - 7:04 PM

fausto - People should read before issuing judgements, in no country whatsoever it is mandatory to give citizenship to whom comes in illegally, nor their children, people read the law before going out and being ridiculous

December 11, 2013 - 5:17 PM

Luia - 160 countries around the World do not give the nationality to the sons And day daughters of illegal immigrants. The Dominican constitution since 1929 has established that a person get the Dominican nationality when by the time he/she was born the parents were legal residents. Therefore if your parents are illegal residents you will have the nationality of your parents instead of the Dominican nationality.
Haiti and international groups are trying to solve part of Haiti’s problem by forcing the Dominican goverment to change their laws so that the Dominican Republic end up recognizing as Dominicans illegal immigrants.
It’s funny that Canada and probably the people
That are in these pictures have done little to solve Haiti’s issue or have shown a real concerned about the situation of Haiti, that after millions of dollars given to charities and other institutions, Haiti chaos and poverty hasn’t changed at all, cause most of the money end up in mafias. Is this was an honest campaign, they would have been protesting against that instead of protesting against another country that legally has all the rights to say or establish that an illegal immigrant is not Dominican. 160 other countries have the same position as ours but it seems that only the Dominican Republic is the “evil” one. Come on! Be honest or is this group another one of those that are fed with money from the Usaid and that, without this kind of silly public protest, wouldn’t be able to get anybody to support them with money?

December 11, 2013 - 5:10 PM

Manuel Duro - What are you guys doing for the 300,000 slaved children (RESTAVEKS) in Haiti? Hypocrites!!! Boycott Haiti HIPOCRITAS! http://www.restavekfreedom.org/

December 11, 2013 - 5:03 PM

Luia - I bet that non of you protested over this, either:

http://www.globalresearch.ca/haiti-humanitarian-aid-for-earthquake-victims-used-to-build-five-star-hotels

Or what about the 300,000 kids that are restaveks or slaves in Haiti, why don’t you guys make a protest about that? Why protesting against the Dominican Republic when NO OTHER country has helped Haiti more than the Dominicans.

December 11, 2013 - 5:00 PM

Manuel Duro - This is an utter lie. The affected are about 13,000 and the President already announced they will be taken care of. So….. this smear campaign is beyond moronic!

December 11, 2013 - 2:04 PM

Mireille - Inhumain

December 11, 2013 - 9:43 AM

Lesly St-Louis - My grand mother was born in 1917 in sto domingo, when she was 20yrs old or so in 1937 she gave birth to my mother in sto domingo. My great grand mother took escape on mules back to haiti to avoid death, over 30 000 dominican haitians did not make it. My family told us the story over, over, over and over again. Never again……..

December 11, 2013 - 6:59 AM

Marjorie - I never have any interest to visit Dominican Republic because i know how they have been treated my people for numerous years especially in the batey. I’ve met some very good dominican citizens living in Haiti and in the US, but their government is up to no good. We as people of Haiti need to stand up together once and for all to stop that hatred. A lot of wealthy haitians have properties in DR and they treat them like god over there, but why can’t the poor haitians get some respect as well. Is it about money, interest or human dignity?

December 11, 2013 - 12:58 AM

December 10, 2013 - 6:45 PM

Rigg Ross - They have to treat human being like human not like garbage. They have to treat them with respect.

December 10, 2013 - 6:34 PM
